Charlotte, NC.- Las Escuelas de Charlotte Mecklenburg (CMS) se aseguran de que los estudiantes que no hablan inglés aprendan su contenido básico mientras aprenden el idioma.

Más de 25,000 estudiantes en el distrito son estudiantes de inglés que representan a 184 países y hablan 204 idiomas y dialectos diferentes. Algunos de los principales idiomas que se hablan en el distrito son: español, vietnamita, birmano, ruso y árabe.

Los datos de CMS para los resultados preliminares de las pruebas de fin de año 2020-2021 mostraron una fuerte disminución en los puntajes de lectura para los estudiantes de inglés de tercer a octavo grado.

Desde el año escolar 2018-2019 hasta el año pasado, los estudiantes bajaron de casi el doce por ciento de competencia a menos del cinco por ciento.

Hace pocos días, CMS anunció programas de aprendizaje ampliados para estudiantes durante junio, julio y agosto.
